Coupled with our most recent post, You Know You’re Addicted To Web Design If…, I’ve come up with a list of Photoshop addiction features:
You Know You’re Addicted To Photoshop If…
- You know what CMYK stands for
- You find yourself holding down the space bar and dragging when you’re surfing the web
- You’re subscribed to at least 5 photoshop tutorial websites
- You can accurately explain smart objects to a non-photoshop user in under one minute
- You know at least two three-key-or-more commands (Cmd+Option+Shift+Click)
- You have ever tried to match the hex codes for real life objects
- There’s a custom PS skin installed to make your workspace “cooler”
- You’ve spent over $1000 on a bigger monitor so you can “see the whole canvas”
- You’ve cried while using the pen tool
- You get angry that lined paper doesn’t have rulers on the top and side
- You analyze ads in magazines to figure out “how they did it”
- You have ever woken up in the middle of the night and started recreating the dream you just had in Photoshop
- You can name three developers of Photoshop
- ‘Vector’ has become a part of your every-day vocabulary
- You know the hot key for “show guides”
- If you didn’t know, you just looked up the hot key for “show guides”
- You can recognize and name a font in a magazine in a second (Courtesy of Marco)
Did you make the cut? Are you a Photoshop addict? Don’t be embarrassed or ashamed. All it means is that you’ve spent more time Command+Shift+N-ing (making layers) than making friends. Nevertheless, we applaud you for your ability to create truly amazing graphics that make our lives so much more aesthetically appealing. So don’t stop! Embrace your addiction and keep those brushes flowing!
Got some more you’d like to see added to this list? Drop a comment with your suggestions and we’ll add them in with a link to your site!

are applied by me.
Great list! What about:

It seems you are addicted and you concluded that statements very cool, so I found I’m addicted too. Actually I started to figure it out for a first time while dragging everything with space and pressing ctrl+T on every picture:) After that my favorite color became #333333 and life has got analizable in layers. It’s good to have someone who understands the photoshop language:) and that u can buy a wide 22′ monitor for less than 1000$ and i’m glad that there is still much things about photoshop that i can learn

While we’re talking about CMYK, what about RGB, and what the difference is, awa the difference between vectors and rasters?

And then your knowledge of fonts….how many obscure ones can you instantly recognise?

Nearly all of them are indeed true. :p
The only thing is, I know almost every command key in Photoshop.

Ha! It would seem that most of us are in fact addicted. But, since I’m addicted as well, all the better!
@Stella – I’m not THAT addicted. I’ve never used a PS skin – I would recommend googling for one that you would be interested in.
@JY – Shame. Such a shame
@Farishta – The only medicine that comes to mind is…more PS!
@Marco – Added. Thanks for that one – Can’t believe I forgot it!

If I know what CMYK means or can name a typeface – why should that mean I’m addicted to Photoshop? These are things you should know if you’re a designer not a useless macmonkey.
How about ‘you know you’re addicted to Photoshop when’ – ‘you can’t have any ideas of your own and put crappy reflections on everything you do’ or ‘you have no idea of what craft is and jump straight on a computer’.
Or perhaps ‘you want to slate this comment as deep down you know it’s true’.
