What’s New? Plurk.

The Next Twitter?

I’ve got to be honest, I’ve found a new addiction online. It’s called Plurk. It is an almost Twitter-like micro-blogging platform, but underneath everything it has so much more to offer. Sure, it keeps the 140 character limit messages you can type out, but in terms of provoking communication between people, Plurk is far better.

I really started using this system yesterday and I have already found it so much more enjoyable than Twitter. It is so easy to reply to people’s messages and become engaged in conversations. Plurk has really come up with some creative ideas to help its users engage in conversations such as friend groups and cliques, threaded comments, and preset verbs to help get your thoughts flowing.

You won’t truly understand what Plurk is all about until you give it a try. So head on over and give it a go. It is a very fun tool to help keep in touch with all of your contacts, and Plurk is already growing at an astonishing rate. So jump on in and start Plurking!

Plurk seems useful, however it can get almost as annoying as facebook with its constant app requests, and is down loads too, just like twitter. The mobile apps are the future tho, so watch this space.

They need to make sure that their servers can handle the users, Twitter could have been great but its annoying to connect, Facebook, well I agree with Jacques, a time guzzler. I will bookmark it and maybe give it a go.

@Jacques - Agreed it can get annoying at times. I find it best to just get involved in a couple conversations and not spread yourself too thin. You don’t want to find yourself having to keep up with dozens of threads and feeling worried about missing a reply or two.

@Goran - Of course. They’ve had a few downtimes in my experience thus far, but seems to be handling things better than Twitter - even though Plurk isn’t nearly as large yet. I guess we’ll just see what happens as it expands and becomes much more user heavy.
