Website Design For Blogs
Website design for blogs is becoming an ever-increasing necessity in the online world. The old saying “Content is King” still holds true, but if you think about the sheer amount of content out there, it is becoming harder and harder to make your writing unique and 100% original. For this reason, I feel that now is the time for a revolution - “Design is Queen.”
I don’t think I could ever put website design for blogs ahead of content, but there is definitely a rise in importance for the way your blog looks. Have you ever been to a website that looks stunning, but it seems as though the content isn’t as great? Have you ever visited back to that website just to check out the design again? I’m sure that for most of us, the answer to those questions are ‘Yes’ and ‘Yes’. Now from the opposite end, have you ever visited a website with fantastic content but a design that sends chills down your spine? How many times did you actually visit back?
In the Wordpress world, design is moving up to the front seat as every day thousands and thousands of free templates are freed out into the internet. These website designs for blogs are snatched up in a hurry and in no time, are being seen everywhere. As more and more free themes keep pouring into the blogging world, premium themes are becoming more of a factor in website design. People are getting sick of all those free themes out there where no matter which one they choose, there are a few hundred other people using it. Premium themes are a way to give away quality templates and website designs for blogs. As people become more and more concerned with being unique, they are willing to pay out some money to be fresh and original.
I think that a lot of ideas can be taken from this concept of website design for blogs becoming increasingly popular. First, it means that we are going to start seeing more and more designers selling their works, rather than giving them out for free. What does this mean? Well, not a whole lot, except that if you want to get a great website design for your blog, you are going to have to dish out a few extra bucks in the process.
This is not to say that free templates are going down the drain. In fact, they are still rising in popularity. For some designers, free themes are an excellent way to build backlinks, no doubt about it. However, for the people actually using the designs, it can be quite frustrating to see hordes of other people using that same great design as you.
If you are a web designer, I would be prepared to choose your market - free or premium. Free will get you lots of recognition and backlinks, while the premium market will most likely end up making you the most money. For me, maybe a little bit of both. My new site redesign will be sold as a premium theme, but more of that later. However I will probably also enter into the realm of releasing free themes. I guess only time will tell. Just remember that website design for blogs is definitely becoming a more relevant subject for everyone that owns a blog, and if you ever think about making your own website, you too will have to choose either free or premium.
