I’m sure you have all seen Smashing Magazine. If you haven’t, please do yourself a favor and check them out right away. Why? Because of their vast array of information on everything web design - from coding, to designing, to inspiration, to fonts.
Now I want to show you just a couple of articles I found on here that have served as an inspiration to me along with countless others I’m sure. These articles give creative ideas and show how other people are taking web design to a whole new level.
The first article is 45 Blog Designs. This post is exactly what the title infers: 45 Excellent Blog Designs. The main reason for me posting this is inspiration. If you are wanting to see some absolutely beautiful blog templates, Smashing Magazine went ahead and compiled them all for you. Check this page out and don’t just look at the designs themselves, take the time to look each one over and identify what makes it so unique. It is this process that will lead you to become a better blog designer.
The second article covers fonts. There are a few different articles all about fonts found on S.M., however this will get you started on the road to creating professional designs with professional text. As designers, we all know how critical it is when it comes to choosing the perfect font for your site. Well get started on the path to finding just the right one and read this article.
The third and last article I will feature today is logos. This perhaps beats fonts when it comes to the most important element in a web design. The logo has to me recognizable, memorable, clean and sleek, as well as creative and original. Pulling off all these elements and putting them into one logo is no small feat. It takes a true master to create a logo as beautiful and elegant as the ones found in this article. Again, do yourself a huge favor and just look. Get inspired to create the next great logo!
I hope you find these 3 articles helpful.
I will hopefully be posting some more of these up in future posts.
Thanks for reading.
~Brian
