The later months of 2009 showed a rising trend in web design of straying away from gradients, subtle details, and muted, Apple-esque design techniques. Instead, more and more designers are turning towards bright, vibrant, or strong colors in their designs to attract readers’ eyes to certain areas, invoke certain emotions, or create a certain mood. I fully expect 2010 to be the year of bright, bold colors in web design.
In light of this prediction for 2010 web design, here is a list of over 90 remarkable examples of bold colors in web design to offer you inspiration as you experiment with new design styles in the new year.

My latest rant has been about design blogs posting “30 Best …” and “60 Greatest …”. The lists are too long to absorb! A more digestible number would be appreciated. An actual cream-of-the-crop sort of list. “90+”? Just know that there are those of us out there that see a list that long, laugh, and then PASS on the information, regardless of what useful nuggets it might contain.

That’s a very interesting point Anisa.
I’m actually very conflicted when I write posts like this for the same reasons you have explained – they are simply too long! However, I find that when I am looking for design inspiration on other sites, the longer the list, the better. This is simply because it saves me time from searching all over the web to find lots of great inspiration.
Perhaps I can shake things up and try some more bite-size posts?

That’s a really great point, Brian. I think it’ll help me more if I rely on posts like this during project research instead of letting them overwhelm me during my daily RSS feed review. And maybe mixing it up would be good, too, some long lists and some bite-sized. Is there a way for you to include a “if you like these and need more, check out a longer list” link in a top-10 style post?

Terrific collection. Some of these colors I wouldn’t have thought would work well together, but they were pulled of nicely.
