Looking for some extra cash for that special someone, your Mom’s birthday, or your girlfriend’s shopping sprees? Well now you have an opportunity to get the cash you need. Today I am launching the Elite By Design affiliate program. How can you join? Just sign up and advertise the Elite By Design Wordpress Theme. For every copy you sell, you will receive a massive 15% commission. That means that every single use theme you sell you can make anywhere from $9.75 to $15. If you manage to sell a developer package, you will get a whopping $26.25! Now that is some high quality money for doing nothing. Just click here to join.
.

What do you need to start?

-Paypal account
-Valid email address.
.

Any rules?

You must have the affiliate code on your site or blog to receive a commission. If you sign up for the affiliate program only to buy my theme and save yourself some money, you will not be paid the commission. If you are buying the theme for yourself, click on another affiliate banner or pay the full price - no cheating!

You will be sent an email for each sale originating from your website. Each month’s earnings will be paid via PayPal within 15 days of month end.

A Quick Note:

When you are grabbing the affiliate code, be sure to copy the one with the “hop link button code.” The code will redirect people to Elitebydesign.com/theme making it so that you get a commission on anything they buy, not just one theme. .

Its so easy, just sign up and start watching the cash roll in. I even took the liberty of making you some banners to get you started:

    Hi Brian
Been an admirer of your theme for a while. Will eventually buy it myself for a client that it will be just perfect for.

I got your feed this morning and am only to happy spread the word of your theme, so am signing up to become an affiliate. Do you mind if I alter one of your banners just a little? I am trying to keep a certain layout style for my ads, so all I need to do is some minor tweaking for it? Just some rounded corners etc?

Good stuff, read your posts everyday.

    Me again
Righto. I have added the banner. Nice.

Could you please just confirm how it works. When I click on the banner I get taken to your purchase page. How ar you able to tell if someone comes via me to you? There is no indication when you get to your page that it has been referred.

I used the Hop code, but it did say something about making sure it was enabled. But I checked on e-junkie and there was not any obvious options to change this.

Possibly its all done under the hood, so you know when someone comes from my or someone elses site?

Also, if I want to link to all 3 versions, do I need to place 3 sep banner ads? Or could I create some text links underneath the one banner for the 3 different versions, using of course the relevant generated code?

Just wanted to make sure it was working OK. Please could you take a look when you have a moment? I have altered your banner just a little. Hope its ok.

Just needed to add. Although there are 3 sep referral codes for each version, you seem to get taken to the same page at Elite where all 3 options are then listed.

In this case, does it matter what version of the referral code we paste on our site? Does it just come down to the version they choose when they order from you? So if I have used the single licence with link code, and someone ends up buying the developer pack, how would that work out for myself?

Thanks again and sorry for all the comments. Im not trying to spam you!!! :0) Could of emailed I guess, but i also figured it good for you to generate comments on this, shows it popular. Or, you can just delete them ofcourse. lol.

Hey Graham, not an issue at all. You can tweak the banners all you want, those are just something for people to use if they don’t have photoshop or an image-editing program.

The way it works is that whenever someone clicks on the banner, it sets a cookie on my page for that user. If you copied the hop code, then anytime someone buys either of the 3 versions, you will get a commission. As long as they were referred from your site.

No matter which version you selected when you joined the program, you got the same code. Again, anytime someone clicks your banner, it will take them to elitebydesign.com/theme. If they purchase either of the 3 versions, you will get a commission.

I hope this helped, let me know if you have any more questions.

Great stuff, Brian. I’ve signed up and installed the code on BloggingNotes. Even if the sales don’t come through BN, I hope you do real well with this.

Brian, is there a reason why you use jpg for the images above? I would have thought png would work better with it since they are graphics.

For the size and detail in the banners, jpg vs png wouldn’t make much of a visual difference. Can you tell a difference? If so, your eyes are better than mine :P

I just thought there was something else other than that, some weird design rule… guess not ;)

BTW though, there is a huge size difference. For example, the first file listed 125×125b.jpg is 33.9kb, but when turned into a PNG it is only 5kb. Anyways, I always figured that pictures = jpg, text only graphics = gif and graphics or graphics + text = png. That always seemed to work for me when trying to get the smallest possible size while keeping the quality.

You may be right Gary. So I went ahead and put them over to png format. Thanks for the input!

There’s a tool called “PNGout” that is pretty handy, since generally graphic software has trouble compressing images. CS3 has gotten a lot better than previous versions of PhotoShop, but there is still some work to be done. I have PNGout set to where I right click on an image and select PNGout from the menu and it will automatically compress it… saves a lot of time. At the very least it will shrink the size by 1 to 2 kb, but sometimes a lot more.

Just something to look into, it helps out a lot for web graphics.

    Hmm. You’ve got my attention.

Actually, what got me back here was technorati. I was looking at my blog reactions and checking to see who was using the top commentator plugin (I’m making a list of blogs that are comment-friendly). I noticed that you have an authority of 153. Bravo! I guess those are from links on your template and people blogging about your templates?

I like the idea of the affiliate program. Web Design and Web hosting are competitive markets and it’s a great way to get people to promote your products. (Especially given the abundance of free themes out there published on creative commons licenses)

I like how there’s no minimum payout. That’s a big bonus. Any possibility of adding a sid tracking code to the link so that we could monitor which affiliate links were working best?

My big question, though, is about your decision to not allow people to use their own links for themselves. Some companies explicitly allow it, while others explicitly forbid it.

I can appreciate why companies don’t allow it, but to be honest, you’re still making 85% on a product that you’ve already developed. I assume that your pre-made templates are electronic assets that don’t require custom tweaking. (Do you provide support if the end-user does want to modify it?)
