Creative Places To Network With Creative People

I’ve been extremely busy in the last few weeks with designing, maintaining client work, being gone in Europe and California on business, and finishing Platinum and my redesign. With all this time away, I feel like I’ve lost connection with a lot of my old friends on the web. While I am working right now to catch up with all of my networks and social media pals, I am also working on branching out to new and more creative places to find people like myself who I can connect with.
First, I just signed up for a Deviant Art account - something I can’t believe I hadn’t done sooner. My URL is here: http://elitebydesign.deviantart.com/
If you have a DA account, I would love to be friends with you to share art and help critique each others work. Right now, I am working on building relationships with other web designers on Deviant Art. I have already found boatloads of incredible web designs. Check some of them out:
A second place I found a few weeks ago, which I already blogged about is Plurk. I have met tons of incredibly interesting people with whom I can hold real-time conversations with any time of the day. It has been great to meet new friends and connect with fellow blog owners and web designers. If you are interested in joining the Plurk movement, come on over and get in the conversation!
I am always on the search for more interesting and creative people to work with - so please, meet me at Deviant Art, Plurk, Twitter, Digg, Stumble Upon, or any other social site you may be using. I look forward to networking with you all!

Deviant Art is definitely a meeting place for creative types! Some awesome work up there, really a resource worth showcasing one’s work one and a good place to network with other design type people. Thanks for the heads-up!
As for Plurk…..all I can say is Urggg. Worse than Facebook…..that’s just my personal take though, as the success of both services indicate that there is huge merit behind them.
I added you on deviantart. It is really a big place though.
@Jacques - I’ve already met a couple of interesting people with great artistic talent on DA. My goal is to become on of those people that others can look to for inspiration. I hope you will sign up for an account!
@Nutral - Thanks very much. And yes, it is a massive place. I love how much there is to look at and how many creative people are there to start conversations with!
I’ve used deviantart before, and pretended I was an artist for about 6 months (as in, uploaded things I’d made) then I got bored because I didn’t make any friends. I guess I wasn’t really trying but oh well!
Have fun on dev!
Billy
@Billy - It would be great to get you back on there. If you have time, come back on and get into some web designer communities (or any other niche you are interested in) - it would be nice to review each others works!
I have heard about Deviant Art, but never really tried it out. I will go and try it out. As for Plurk I agree with Jacques.
@Goran - That would be great! My URL is elitebydesign.deviantart.com. Add me!
Excellent post
Love the site! I just found it through Design Float and I’m glad I did
I also just added you to a few of the networking sites.
