Bringing Back The Card

After a little thought and some revelations with the help of Vic, I am jumping back into the Entrecard community. I am aware that I quit so many weeks ago because of the crappy traffic it brought my site. A couple weeks later, my thoughts were confirmed by many other bloggers including the esteemed Blogger Unleashed that Entrecard truly did “suck.” After a little bit of discussion over at my recent post about Tutorial Traffic, both Vic and I have figured out that Entrecard doesn’t completely suck.

For many bloggers who are out to make money through advertisements and adsense, Entrecard is crap. That is where a lot of the Entrecard argument has come from. However there are some niches out there that can hugely benefit from the traffic of Entrecard - my niche included. As I start to develop my own free wordpress themes and sell some more premium themes in the coming months, Entrecard will help attract more eyes that will see my creations.

Since most “Entrecarders” have blogs, they are always looking out for the latest and greatest in blog design. If I can get people to keep dropping their card on my site, my goal is to have some of them notice my themes and either download them or purchase them.
So before we continue this “Entrecard Sucks” argument, let’s take a look at the other side and see where Entrecard can really be a large part of a bloggers success. I am going to experiment with the Entrecard community again as soon as I get some themes out. I will keep you all posted on how things go.

Hi, I’m an ad-noob and I’m trying Entrecard for the first time today. (I have some adsense as well but.. )
Thank you for covering this, I’m really interested in learning more.
I like the concept, and I look forward to get the chance to have more than 1 widget on a blog.
But Brian, can I ask what system you have now in your upper right? The adii, yourdesignforums etc? Is it manually contracted ads?
I tried adsense 125×125 ads but I didn’t get anything. I think I need to read more about this new world later today.
Thanks for nice posts.
Err… and I thought I was the one that brought up the definition of quality for Entrecard traffic on that post. Anyways, glad your going back, maybe you’ll have better luck with it this time around.
Hopefully Gary - and you absolutely did help me reach my decision.
More eyes seeing your website is the key. Sure alot of people “drop and run” but I bet you see a small increase in post comments or the occasional subscriber. Even if you get 1 new subscriber a day from Entrecard, it’s worth it in my opinion. Good luck and great blog!
