Here’s part 3 of my series on how to get noticed online. This is going to be short and sweet, so stay focused!

Part 3 today will cover finding your niche.

Finding Your Niche
While I try my best to stray away from using definitions, this will be one of the rare occasions that I do.

Niche:
1. a place or position suitable or appropriate for a person or thing
2.a distinct segment of a market.

Basically a niche is where you fit in with the community. It defines your job, your work, and what you write about. Finding your niche is essential for two reasons.
1. It establishes a reader base that enjoys the same subjects as you.
2. Finding your niche shows off your professional quality and lets you brag about what you know.

Let’s look back at definition number 1. “…a position suitable or appropriate for a person…” If you are a person who loves talking about gadgets, computers, technology, and other fun stuff, your niche should not be telling people how to find true love. Vice versa. If you’re going to base your blog around a subject, make sure it is a subject that you are both knowledgeable and informed about. If you aren’t, you won’t be providing the right kind of content to the reader.

How To Find Your Niche
Even though it should already be pretty clear by now, let me just make sure you understand. Finding your niche means that you find the position in the internet community that lets you show off what you know. It means that you get to write about things you enjoy writing about. You must choose just a few topics that you feel comfortable talking about and then run with them. If you have truly found your niche, it will be easy for you write great articles and you will most likely get a great reader response.
