This is my first article of my first series. I hope you enjoy it and get to learn a few things along the way.
If it’s too long, just scan the headings and find what’s right for you.
Here’s part 1:
Be Original
We’ve all heard it before. From the time we’re little, to the time we’re setting off as young adults: “just be yourself.” Well I’ll be the first to admit that it is easier said than done. A lot easier.
Try this:
Sit down. Close your eyes. Now take just a minute and make mental notes of who you are - what makes you unique, what makes you special, how you are different, how you are better. Anything? For most of us, this is a task that takes a lot more than one minute. You may be lucky and were able to answer all those questions, but most of us don’t have that easy of a time. This is why this is step one to getting noticed online - being yourself.
Establishing Yourself
So you want to start a company or a business online. Your dreams are to grow from having a few readers, to being popular, to being well known, to being famous, all the way to providing yourself with financial security. How do you start? Well, first picture this: there are over 60 million blogs out there circling around. Out of those 60 million, I guarantee there are at least several thousand blogs writing about the exact same topics you are. For a lot of startups, knowing how big your competition is can be quite intimidating. That’s why you absolutely have to be unique. You absolutely have to stand out.
Stand out
Right now, before you even start trying to get people onto your site, come up with one thing that makes you stand out. If you can’t do this, just stop. If there is nothing about you that is unique or original, just quit. If you can’t think of one thing about yourself that’s unique, then you must realize that you will get swept away in the crowd to never be noticed again.
Be unique
As corny as this may sound, we all have something unique about ourselves. It’s just a matter of finding that one special aspect. If you haven’t thought of your one unique trait, don’t give up just yet. Keep thinking and you will come up with something that will set you apart from the rest. Once you find that one characteristic, let it out. Make everything about your company, your business, your blog, whatever, revolve around that trait. Let it come out in your writing and in your art, and you are bound to be noticed.
End of Part 1
I hope you all enjoyed part 1 of my first series. The next parts will be coming over the next few days so be sure to keep checking back.
